Objectives

Create an inclusive working community composed of university students and professionals in the historical and cinematic fields.

Produce and disseminate a docufilm on the tragedy of the atomic bombings, focusing on memory and peace, supported by thorough historical research and testimonies.

“Il libro delle ombre” (“The Book of Shadows”) is a creative project aimed at producing a 60-minute feature film, with a screenplay developed by a select group of students from the Master’s Degree program in Television, Cinema, and New Media at IULM University in Milan.

In anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, students will create a docufilm with a broad impact, telling the story through the journey of an imaginary shadow that has lingered since the time of the atomic explosion in Hiroshima.

The goal is to start with the memories and testimonies of the devastating atomic explosions in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, moving towards a perspective of potential future reconciliation. The film blends realism and poetry in the hope of building a peaceful future for all.

The project is grounded in solid scientific research conducted in collaboration with historians and experts in peace cultures, supported by specialized academic centers such as the International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP), Hiroshima Peace Institute, Hiroshima City University, and the Italian Universities Network for Peace (RuniPace).
