Buddhism perceives all living beings as linked in a web of mutually interdependent and harmonious relationships. It doesn’t polarize relationships into opposing parties (“us” and “them”) and doesn’t separate human beings from their natural and social environment. On the contrary, it considers any phenomenon as interrelated and aims at creating human happiness based on the harmonization of these relations starting from the individual.

The Soka Gakkai religious movement aims at fostering a process of self-reformation based on Buddhist humanism. In its essence, it consists in a deep respect for every life form. This self-reformation process is based on the concrete effort to awaken one’s innate and unlimited potential — which manifests every day as wisdom, compassion, courage and life strength. This brings every person to naturally live based on the awareness that every action done for others also brings benefit to oneself.

By basing our way of life on this humanistic vision, we can positively influence our families, our work environment, our communities, and society as a whole. This process of inner transformation is called human revolution and it is the foundation for solving complex global problems and for becoming the actors that will build a peaceful and harmonious society.

«A great human revolution in just a single individual will help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and further, will enable a change in the destiny of all humankind.» (Daisaku Ikeda, La rivoluzione umana, Esperia, IV).

This idea of humanism is at the same time openly universalistic and strongly rooted in local experiences and it is the foundation of our commitment when using 8X1000 funds. On the basis of this principle we wish to reciprocate the trust that the Italian society has placed in us.
