Analyzing and granting international visibility to social cohesion and non-violence actions implemented in Ukraine during the war, as well as to the main peace-building needs.
Strengthening the ability of Ukrainian youth, civil society and education institutions to organize peace-building activities and first-aid interventions in trauma management.
Supporting Ukrainian youth and civil society organizations in implementing campaigns that expose the country’s population and government to narratives of peace, non-violence and resilience to trauma.
The project’s aim is to deal with peace-building and non-violence in Ukraine in a context of open war. It was developed by collecting and assessing the needs of young people and its main goals are the following:
- Training at least 300 youth — members of civil society and youth or humanitarian organizations in Ukraine — in peace-building and non-violence;
- Through meetings and information exchanges, strengthening the cooperation and mutual understanding abilities of 10 Ukrainian organizations and 15 international organizations;
- Disseminating paper and digital guides about peace-building and non-violence in the occupied territories. Disseminating Scuole di Pace (Schools of Peace) methodology for first-aid interventions in war trauma management. Implementing first-aid interventions in war trauma management and educating about resilience in 10 schools by training 50 teachers;
- Identifying at least 20 examples of non-violence and peace-building initiatives by Ukrainian citizens, activists, youth and civil society organizations; documenting and disseminating them at national and international level. Reaching at least 10,000 people through online campaigns and recorded videos;
- Involving Ukrainian institutions and community organizations in advocacy meetings about peace-building, encouraging them to be active for peace.
Youth in Ukraine and fleeing from Ukraine have been among the most seriously affected by the war. According to estimates, more than 2 million of them have left the country, and 2 more million are currently internally displaced. They have had to interrupt their studies and, in many cases, they have been separated from their families and are physically, emotionally and psychologically wounded.
In the current, complex international context, the project intends to support these youth and civil society organizations in finding broader answers to the reasons of the conflict and in building a stable and long-lasting peace.
