Objectives

Fostering the recovery of the performing arts sector by offering non-repayable grants to private-law bodies, associations, cooperatives, non-profit organizations, foundations, companies, networks, partnerships and other associations, including ad-hoc ones, to implement projects and invest in relaunching the industry, in light of recent changes in work and life conditions.

Supporting projects, new ideas and investments in line with the new context brought about by the crisis due to the pandemic. Aiming for concrete and measurable results that can respond to the change seen in the market of culture consumption.

Performing arts are a common good and a universal language that cannot survive without the various professionals working in the sector. The industry is now experiencing a dramatic crisis. The Scena Unita (United Scene) initiative aims at supporting workers in the performing arts sector so as to strengthen their ability to work in a changing context and find opportunities for them to become stronger and relaunch their work, even in the midst of the dramatic crisis our country is going through.

The grant will focus on three areas of intervention, including:

  1. Organization of single events, shows, festivals and formats;
  2. The infrastructural and technological renovation of spaces and places where art is produced and enjoyed;
  3. Innovation in artistic production processes, internal organization and services offered.

Within these three areas, the grant will give priority to actions that will:

  • Promote networks and partnerships, including ad-hoc ones, fostering the integration of services and organizational arrangements;
  • Focus on the safety of the places where art is produced and enjoyed;
  • Focus on acquiring technologies and skills to organize immersive, hybrid, digital, and virtual (XR/AR/VR) shows;
  • Create multi-functional spaces;
  • Aim for a gender balance in the organization and in cultural programs;
  • Pay attention to participation, social inclusion, physical and sensory accessibility of shows.

Funds will be used to support innovation and improve working conditions, in particular:

  • Fostering fair working conditions for all the workers in the industry;
  • Supporting innovation, including in technology; reducing costs and integrating services;
  • Ensuring sustainability of business models and working conditions across the whole performing arts industry;
  • Raising awareness on the rights of workers in this industry and fostering their protection.
